I didn't get his name, however, he served around Pleiku, Vietnam. This was a very nice gesture by this fellow Veteran. I served at Phan Rang AB from Nov 68-69. I came upon your site while surfing the net and knew that the above statement would have special meaning for you. I served with 3/22nd, 25th Infantry Division out of Tay Ninh as an infantryman. Fought the NVA on the slopes of Nui Ba Den twice with numerous firefights in and around the area bordering the Cambodian border. After 5 months in the field, I was pulled to the 93rd Evac at Long Binh to work with soldiers suffering.

Comments: Graduated Infantry OCS 15 April 1965, Ranger School 19 July 1965, and went straight to the 1st Cavalry (Airmobile) Division as an Infantry Platoon Leader. Island hopped to Vietnam via C-130 with the advance party while the division came over by ship. 1st plt, A Co, 1st Bn, 5th Cav joined the 7th Cav in the battle of Ia Drang in November 1965. I lasted 3 days before being hit by mortars and medivaced out.

Comments: Many thanks to everyone who showed up to help sort and fill orders for the Toys for Tots on Tues. evening 11/30.
SSgt Huddleston figured we filled over 100 bags w/ toys. He also said he could use our help again before distribution on the 12th or 13th of December.
The evening seemed to work fine - I'll get ahold of Lyle and see if we can't set something up and we'll let everyone know.

Comments: I was once what was called an associate member of the VVA and was hoping to get reinvolved with the Vietnam Veterans. The Chapter 199 is the chapter I had been involved with. The meeting were every other month held in Bettendorf. Chuck Schantag is the one who got me involved origanally. It has been to long for me. I owe the Vietnam Veteran my life. Any time I have needed a friend one or more of you have shown up. I also would like to find if possible a couple of veterans I use to write. I would like to find if possible someone who served with my brother Henry George Velthoff, he was artillery in Dec. of 1969 - Feb. 1970. The Black horse had something to do with his unit.
